Outwardly Creative: Third time lucky - Event Recap

Our third Outwardly Creative event brought another inspiring evening of creativity, connection, and community to Helm Gallery.

We were joined by puppeteer and puppet builder Andy Heath, who shared stories from his 30-year career in TV, film, and theatre, including work with the BBC, Jim Henson Productions, Disney, and Paramount. Andy explored puppetry, puppet creation, and queer representation in the puppet community, reflecting on how queerness has shaped the art form and the wider creative industries. Andy brought puppets to play and perform with, with many getting involved and celebrating the joyous, playful, and subversive nature of an art form that refuses to die.

The evening was full of hands-on experiences and creative exchanges, as LGBTQIA+ creatives and allies shared ideas, celebrated each other’s work, and strengthened queer networks and community.

We’re proud to keep growing this space for queer creatives and can’t wait for the next gathering in the new year!
